Within the Maison MIKIMOTO all our new designers begin their training by reproducing the designs of existing parts to learn the fundamentals. In this way they become familiar with our manufacturing traditions through the movement of their bodies. Once the most promising sketches have been selected, our designers paint them using fine-tipped brushes and traditional Japanese ink, followed by watercolors to create light and shadow effects. With painstaking work, their designs eventually look so real you could almost touch them.
